UPDATE – Ontario Hoppenings Lunch and Learn – Monday September 28, 2020 now from 11:30 am to 1 pm

Our monthly Ontario Hoppenings webinar has been extended by a half an hour to accommodate both the increased interest in several hop-related topics and the availability of our guest speaker, Kristen Obeid. The session will now start at 11:30 am instead of noon and will run until 1 pm. Registrants who are unable to join earlier will still be able to join at noon and slides presented earlier can be emailed later.

Webinar Overview:

Join OMAFRA specialists Evan Elford and Melanie Filotas on Monday, September 28 at 11:30 am for an online Zoom discussion about Ontario hops. Evan and Melanie will give a brief overview of the 2020 season as well as considerations for fall hopyard activities and a brief update on the hops market. Additionally, Kristen Obeid, OMAFRA’s Weed Management Specialist for Horticulture will join the meeting to answer questions about herbicides and weed management for hops.

11:30 am – Welcome and Introductions

11:35 am – Season wrap-up and fall clean-up in the hop yard – Evan Elford, OMAFRA New Crops Development Specialist/Melanie Filotas, OMAFRA Horticulture IPM Specialist

11:45 am – Herbicides for Hops followed by Q and A on weed control questions for hops – Kristen Obeid, OMAFRA Weed Management Specialist – Horticulture

12:25 pm – Conclude season wrap up presentation – Evan and Melanie

12:35 pm – Hop market update – Evan Elford

12:45 pm – Q and A – Evan and Melanie

Attendance is free and open to anyone, however you must pre-register to get the meeting log-in details.  Anyone wishing to ask questions in advance can email Evan (evan.elford@ontario.ca) or Melanie (melanie.filotas@ontario.ca) by 8:30 am on September 28,  or enter it in the question field when you register, and we will try to answer during the session.
