Hops Workshop at 2020 Ontario Fruit & Vegetable Convention

Mark your calendars for the 2020 Ontario Fruit & Vegetable Convention (OFVC)!
February 19-20th, Scotiabank Convention Centre, 6815 Stanley Avenue, Niagara Falls, Ontario.

This year’s hops session will take place on Wednesday, February 19, starting at 9:30 am in Ballroom C.  The session will be in a workshop format featuring a sensory evaluation and impacts for end users.

The workshop will begin with a 30 min review of production practices affecting hop cone quality in the field by Dr. Melanie Filotas and Evan Elford of OMAFRA.

The remaining 1 hr 30 mins of the workshop will focus on sensory evaluation and hop quality impacts for end users in beer production with Roy Desrochers.

Roy is a sensory expert who has been supporting the brewing industry for over 35 years. He is the beer flavour expert for the Master Brewers Association of the Americas (MBAA). He has conducted many beer flavour training programs and workshops around the globe for both small and large brewers. In addition, he provides educational and technical support to farmers and growers including hops and grains. He has conducted sensory workshops for the MBAA National Conventions, MBAA District Texas, MBAA District New England, and MBAA District Ontario, The Hop Growers Conference in Burlington, VT, The Hop Growers Guild in Columbus, Ohio, the Hop Growers Convention in Michigan, the Vermont Brewers Guild, and the Massachusetts Brewers Guild.
